1. Overview
This document sets out the procedure by which the winner of the Revelation Improvement Group £10,000 Renovation Prize Competition will be selected. The Promoter is committed to conducting the draw in a manner that is fair, transparent, and independently verifiable.
2. Draw Trigger
The draw will be triggered once the following conditions are met:
- A minimum of 2,405 valid entries have been received (paid and free combined).
- Total ticket revenue has reached or exceeded £12,000.
- All entries have been validated (correct skill question answer, age verification, eligibility confirmed).
Once the threshold is met, the draw date will be announced at least 14 days in advance. All registered entrants will be notified by email.
3. Random Number Generation Method
The winning entry will be selected using a cryptographically secure pseudo-random number generator (CSPRNG), specifically the Web Crypto API's window.crypto.getRandomValues() method.
This method is:
- Cryptographically secure: The output is generated from an entropy source provided by the operating system and is computationally infeasible to predict.
- Tamper-resistant: The random values are generated by the browser's built-in cryptographic engine, not by application code that could be manipulated.
- Industry standard: The Web Crypto API is a W3C recommendation used in banking, security, and cryptographic applications worldwide.
- Auditable: The seed, timestamp, and result are logged and published as part of the audit trail.
4. Draw Procedure
The draw will follow this procedure:
- Entry Validation: All entries are reviewed and validated. Invalid entries (incorrect skill answer, ineligible entrants, duplicate entries beyond the maximum) are removed from the pool.
- Entry Pool Confirmation: The total number of valid entries is confirmed and announced. Each valid entry is assigned a unique sequential ticket number.
- Independent Witness: An independent witness (not employed by or related to Revelation Improvement Group Ltd) will be present to observe and verify the draw.
- Video Recording: The entire draw process will be recorded on video from start to finish, including the screen showing the random number generation.
- Random Number Generation: The CSPRNG is executed to generate a random number between 1 and the total number of valid entries. This number corresponds to the winning ticket.
- Result Verification: The independent witness verifies the result. The winning ticket number, timestamp, cryptographic seed, and total entry count are recorded.
- Publication: The draw result, audit trail, and video recording are published on the competition website within 24 hours of the draw.
5. Audit Trail
The following information will be recorded and published for each draw:
- Date and time of the draw (UTC)
- Total number of valid entries in the pool
- Winning ticket number
- Cryptographic seed (hexadecimal representation of the random bytes used)
- Name and role of the independent witness
- Link to the video recording of the draw
6. Reserve Draw
In the event that the selected winner cannot be contacted within 14 days, fails to provide valid identification, or is found to be ineligible, the prize will be forfeited and a new winner will be drawn using the same procedure. Up to three reserve draws may be conducted. If no valid winner is identified after three reserve draws, the Promoter will determine an appropriate course of action, which may include extending the claim period or donating the prize value to a registered charity.
7. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes regarding the draw process should be raised in writing to [email protected] within 14 days of the draw date. The Promoter will investigate and respond within 28 days. The Promoter's decision on all matters relating to the draw is final.
8. Cancellation & Refund
If the competition is cancelled for any reason (including failure to reach the entry threshold within 12 months), all paid entrants will receive a full refund within 30 days via the original payment method. The Promoter will notify all entrants by email of the cancellation and refund process.
